Pleasant Versus Good

DSC_5837The problem with us today is that

We all want peace of mind, but don’t want to meditate

We want to get in shape but without exercising and eating healthy

We want positivity around us, but ourselves bring a negative cloud of heavy energy to a space

We want happiness, but can’t let go of negative habits

Why?

Because positive change requires commitment.

Commitment requires discipline

Discipline is no fun-it is unpleasant

We seek what is pleasant

Instead of seeking what is good

So what do we do?

Complain

Complain about how we have no time

Because it makes us come across as noble

When the reality is that we don’t like to feel unpleasant sensations

If we are willing to trade in the pleasant for the good, we will find ample time

Not just for ourselves but for others too.

“That which seems like poison at first, but tastes like nectar in the end, is said to be happiness in the mode of goodness. It is generated by the pure intellect that is situated in self-knowledge.”

“Happiness is said to be in the mode of passion when it is derived from the contact of the senses with their objects. Such happiness is like nectar at first but poison at the end.”

 ~ Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 18 Verse 37,verse 38)
